How Malcolm Young inspired Queens of the Stone Age

By 23/11/2017 April 19th, 2018 No Comments

Malcolm Young passed away late last week on 18th November. Many people have shown their support towards the rock star, such as Black Sabbaths, Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters and many more praised him as one of the best rhythm guitarists of all time and I’d say that’s pretty facking accurate.

Malcolm, along with the rest of AC/DC, inspired thousands (if not millions) of people to pick the guitar and follow in his footsteps.

Homme & Young

Queens of the Stone Age front man Josh Homme (the one with the massive quiff), has spoken about how Malcolm inspired him and the start of Queens of the Stone Age.

He stated in an interview that he copied his robotic style of playing as he played rhythm in the band, Screaming Trees, before Queens of the Stone Age.

He also said that he found that “one note is so much difficult than 50.” Can’t say I agree with you there Josh… then again, you make the big bucks $$$

Nevertheless, it is a sad day for rock ‘n’ roll. Malcolm Young was undoubtedly, one of the best, and a legend in his own right who inspired many musicians to pick up the up the guitar.
