Four young lads from Sheffield recorded three songs onto an EP that they had written and recorded and it was released in October of 2005.
Those four lads were The Arctic Monkeys.
The song ‘I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor’ went straight to number one when it was released and it was clear that something special was about to happen to Alternative Music.
A few months later and their debut album, ‘Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not’ was released and sold over 360,000 copies in the first week, which outsold Oasis’ ‘Definitely Maybe’.
Eleven years later and the Sheffield boys have five studio albums under their belt, but now the question needs to be asked, where did the Arctic Monkeys go?
Post AM
Earlier this year articles and rumors flew about the internet about whether the Monkeys were going to make a comeback at the TRNSMT festival in Glasgow. Unfortunately, this never turned out to be true. But we did get some beautiful pictures of the new Alex Turner Beard.
After their fifth studio album ‘AM’, lead songwriter and singer, Alex Turner, went back to work on ‘The Last Shadow Puppets’ with Miles Kane.
The drummer, Matt Helders, went on tour with Iggy Pop, as for the rest of the band pretty much nothing has been said about them since the ‘AM’ tour finished in 2014.
Well all except for the bassist Nick O’Malley who allegedly confirmed that the band have started recording their next album, which should be out next year and that if it isn’t, ‘we’ve got problems’.
